The DHL Stormers are taking a bit of flack at the moment from local fans. We’re a difficult bunch to please, considering the team’s record in this season’s Vodacom Super 15 rugby competition – played three matches, won three matches. The DHL Stormers have only scored one try in the three games so far but three out of three is not too shabby.

I can remember plenty of games in the past where the team elected to kick for touch instead of going for the posts, only to lose the match in the end by a few points. And then the fans would really let the Stormers have it for not taking those vital kicks at posts. It’s good to see the kicks consistently going over as well.

Look on the bright side – they say a champion side grinds out victories even when they’re playing badly. Bulls captian Victor Matfield said recently after beating the Lions that he’d ‘rather have a bad win, than a good loss’. I’d say that’s spot on from a player who’s won the Super Rugby competition on three occasions. By the way, the DHL Stormers are taking on the Vodacom Bulls this weekend. That’s always a game to look forward to.
