This Saturday’s clash between the DHL Stormers and Crusaders is possibly the most eagerly anticipated match-up of the current Super Rugby competition. Both sides are playing superb rugby at the moment and an action-packed game is expected at Newlands Rugby Stadium on Saturday 7 May 2011.

The DHL Stormers sent out a strong message this past weekend after a comprehensive 32-12 victory over the Sharks. The Cape Town based team is now sitting comfortably on top of the South African conference with 42 points from nine games. They are second in the overall standings, one point behind the Blues but with a game in hand. Players like Jean de Villiers, Jaque Fourie, Schalk Burger, Andries Bekker and Gio Aplon are in great form and the team is consistently playing well. We’re also starting to see some good attacking play in addition to the team’s solid defensive structures.

The Crusaders are second in the New Zealand conference behind the Blues, with 40 points from ten games. Injuries to star players like Daniel Carter and Richie McCaw haven’t stopped the team from playing the usual quality brand of rugby expected from the Crusaders. Sonny Bill Williams in particular has made a mark on this year’s Super 15, with some big matches and great tries.

A full house is expected at Newlands and this should count in the Cape side’s favour, although the Crusaders are well respected by fans in the Mother City and they’ll definitely see some support in the stands.

The game kicks off at 17h05 and it will be shown live on SuperSport on DSTV. Go Stormers!
