Football fans have some great matches to look forward to in the quarter finals of this year’s UEFA Champions League. The pick of the round has to be the clash between Chelsea and Manchester United, while the Real Madrid vs Tottenham Hotspur match-up has the potential to be a classic. The other fixtures see Barcelona taking on Shakhtar Donetsk and Inter Milan up against Schalke 04.

Chelsea and Manchester United have developed an intense rivalry over recent years. They’ve been the two best teams in the English Premiership over the last decade and this has spilled over into the UEFA Champions League as well. The 2008 Champions League final still stands out as one of the closest finals we’ve ever seen in the tournament.

With Chelsea’s chances of defending their English Premiership crown slipping away, it gives the club the opportunity of going all out for the Champions League title – the one title which still eludes the club. This might just be the edge they need to beat rivals Manchester United, who are still in the running for three trophies this year. Whatever happens its bound to be a classic!

And then we have Real Madrid vs Tottenham Hotspur – we could be in for a feast of goals in this match-up with players like Christiano Ronaldo, Mesut Ozil, Gareth Bale and Rafael Van Der Vaart. Both teams play an entertaining style of football and like to get forward as much as possible. Don’t forget the managers Jose Mourinho and Harry Redknapp – they bring a whole other element to the mix. I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens.
