Vote for your favourite Cape Town radio station in the 2010 MTN Radio Awards

The first ever MTN Radio Awards will be taking place on 15 May 2010. The cool thing about these awards is that there’s a ‘Listener’s Choice’ category, which is determined by the public and is perhaps the most important category. Each radio station participating in the awards has been assigned a unique station code. You can vote by SMS’ing the station code to 32487.

Why not send an SMS and show your support for your favourite Cape Town radio station? Let’s see that the winning radio station comes from the Mother City. Here are the major Cape Town radio station codes:

• 567 CapeTalk: 70020
• Good Hope FM: 600113

MTN Radio Awards Project Director Jeremy Maggs had this to say about the Listener’s Choice award: ‘This is where the radio playing field is really levelled and this particular component of the awards programme really tests listener loyalty and preference. The award organizers are confident radio stations will encourage their audiences, both on air and online, to lend their support and vote in large numbers. While all of the categories are important, this is the one that is completely out of the judges’ hands.’

The judges will decide on two awards:

• The ‘MTN Ayoba Station of the year’
• The ‘MTN Ayoba Community Station of the year’

The ‘Listener’s Choice’ award is the one the radio stations really want to win.
