The 567 CapeTalk Small Business Awards 2010 – It’s that time again

It’s time again for the 567 CapeTalk Small Business Awards. It’s a great initiative, brought to you by 567 CapeTalk Radio and Softline Pastel, South Africa’s leading developer of accounting, ERP, Payroll and HR software. Listeners can nominate a small business of their choice. The business should ideally be doing a little something extra, when it comes to quality of service and their customer experience.

2010-567-capetalk-small-business-awards

Nominees must comply with the definition of ‘small business’, as per the National Business Act, 102 of 1996. You can get in touch with 567 CapeTalk from 2 August 2010, with your nominations. You’ll start hearing about each successfully nominated business on radio from 16 August 2010. And the winner will be announced on 13 September 2010.

Good luck to all the nominees. I’m looking forward to seeing which business wins.

    Good afternoon,

Please advise how you go about nominating a small business for the Cape Talk/Pastel Small Business Awards 2010.

I live in Pinelands and have just had a plumber and his assistant in. There name is Purple Plumbing and they gave me exceptional service and went way and above the “call of duty”.

They arrived as I was trying to fix my bed base (wooden) which had cracked and Marcus the owner took it on himself to do it for me, whilst his assistant fixed the “loo bowl”, he used all his own equipment and nails etc and when I asked him what his hourly rate was he said “it is good to be able to help someone” and wouldn’t let me pay for bed fixing bit.

They are an amazing team and really deserve to be given credit for their dedication and care about their work. Marcus gave up a job in retail to do plumbing to help earn more to educate his children.

I have just seen them working on another flat that is being refurbished in the block of apartments where I stay and they are doing the necessary plumbing. They both work exceptionally well, are tidy and clean up after themselves and do a first class job, in additon they have a good reputation.

People like this certainly deserve recognition.

    Yours faithfully,

    ANNE C WESTON (Ms)

    Hi Anne,

You can send your nomination and details to sba@capetalk.co.za or visit http://www.capetalk.co.za/sba/Nomination.aspx.

Please can you tell me if Somerset West is included in this category for an award? Two very enthusiastic local ladies run this shop selling so much of the art materials we artists need and they are always there with bright smiles and willingness to help find whatever we need if not in stock. Personally I would like to nominate them as they are doing a wonderful service to so many artists here and believe me, we are a very artistic community.

  4. Adrian says:

Hi Jess, it’s best to contact 567 CapeTalk – give it a try and see what they say. Best regards, Adrian

  5. Adrian says:

Well done to all the finalists in this year’s 567 CapeTalk Small Business Awards. Congratulations to the winner, The Aleit Group and the two runners-up, NOMU and Khayelitsha Cookies – keep up the good work!

  6. Marianne Wolmarans says:

Please could you give the name of a hairstyling salon nominated for the comp. this year – they only deal with grey/silver hair and make life with grey hair special! Thanks – the owner was interviewed by Aiden.

  7. Adrian says:

Hi Marianne, I looked through the list of 2010 nominees now – was it Bartholomews Hairdressing in Kloof Street? You can give them a call on 021 424 5948. Hope that’s the one you’re looking for :)
