Nederburg picnic season opens in October

A new picnic season opens at the Nederburg wine estate in Paarl from 1 October. With generous green lawns and unspoiled views of the majestic Drakenstein Mountains, Nederburg offers one of the best picnic spots in the Cape.

Picnic-goers can enjoy a complimentary glass of Nederburg’s refreshing sparkling wine on arrival, before feasting on Nederburg’s Flavours of the Cape picnic baskets. These come brimming with freshly-baked bread, locally-produced cheeses, an assortment of crackers, preserves, cold meat, marinated kebabs, smoked Franschhoek salmon trout, pâté, couscous salad, a savoury tartlet, koeksisters, fudge, a cranberry and chocolate biscuit and mineral water. Nederburg wines are available for purchase to enjoy with your picnic and you can end off your lazy afternoon with some freshly brewed coffee or a cup of tea.

A vegetarian picnic option is also available, as well as kiddies’ picnic baskets. The kiddies option includes a home-made beef burger with creamy mayonnaise, fresh seasonal fruit, crisps, jelly sweets, yoghurt, fruit juice, a complimentary toy and a glass of sparkling grape juice.

Flavours of the Cape picnic baskets, each serving one person, are available at a cost of R160 for regular and vegetarian options. Kiddies’ picnic baskets are priced at R70 each.
