Amarula is running a great competition where SA bloggers have the chance to submit a new Heritage Day food/drink recipe using Amarula. Being fans of Amarula, my beautiful fianceĆ© and I decided to have a bash and here’s what we came up with!
- Recipe Name: Marmarula delight
- Enjoy me: Post-braai
When we think heritage, we think braai. So for a twist on the old favourite of marshmallows over the fire, try this simple dessert with a splash of Amarula. - Serve me: Chilled
Plate Marmarula Delight in either a pie plate or individual ramekins, depending on the number of guests. Keep it in the fridge and enjoy with a tot of Amarula on the side. - Make me (to serve four):
- 3/4 packet of Marie Biscuits
- 125g butter
- 100g slab of chocolate (we used dark Lindt)
- 75ml milk
- 75ml Amarula*
- 250ml whipped cream
- 30 marshmallows
- * total milk mixture 150ml – ratio of Amarula to your preference. We did 50:50. Crush the Marie Biscuits and add to the melted butter. Press into a pie plate (or separate ramekins) to line the bottom, then refrigerate. Melt the chocolate, marshmallows, milk and Amarula in a double boiler. Allow mixture to cool and then fold in whipped cream. Pour onto chilled biscuit base and allow for two to three hours to set in the fridge. Garnish with grated chocolate, whipped cream, chopped marshmallows or fruit.
