Thumbs up for Home Affairs in Maynard Mall, Wynberg

Posted on August 14th, 2012

I recently paid a visit to Home Affairs in Maynard Mall, Wynberg to apply for a new passport. A week later to my surprise, everything was taken care of and I had my new passport. It was a quick and seamless experience and for that, I must say well done to all involved and keep up the good work.

A while back, Home Affairs moved from its old home in Millbank Road, Wynberg to Maynard Mall. It was a welcome move and the new premises is a big improvement on the old one. The various sections are clearly marked and the queues are well managed.

I went through on a weekday morning at 11am-ish and there were about eight people in the seated queue for passport applications. Things moved along quickly at the applications counter and I was soon moving along to the payment and fingerprint sections which were just as efficient. The way my application was handled was thoroughly professional and exactly how it should be.

The new Home Affairs in Wynberg is open from Monday to Friday (07h30 – 16h00) and on Saturdays (08h00 – 13h00) for collections only. The contact number is 021 763 6400/03. There’s also a photo shop right next door called Van Kalker (021 761 0505) where you can have your passport/ID photos taken.

I will be going there next week, so hopefully mine will be as smooth as yours. I applied for my son’s passport at Wynberg in 2012 and I was surprised when I got an sms the following week to say it is ready! I hope this reputation carries through. 🙂
