The first football match to take place at the new Cape Town Stadium in Green Point is happening on Saturday 23 January 2010. The match will feature Cape Town’s two premier teams, Ajax Cape Town and Santos. It’s being billed as the ‘Cape Town Stadium Soccer Festival’ and it will also feature a live performance by the ever-popular Freshlyground.

The recently completed Cape Town Stadium was a joint venture between contractors, Murray & Roberts and WBHO. It took 33 months to complete at a cost of R4.4 billion. Cape Town now has a spectacular 68,000 seater stadium, which many are saying is worthy of being one of the top ten best stadiums in the world. Pretty impressive.
You can buy tickets for the ‘Cape Town Stadium Soccer Festival’ at Computicket. Tickets start at R30 each and the most expensive tickets are R50 each. The gates open at 14h00 and the event officially starts at 16h00. Food and beverages will be sold on the day at the stadium.
