Looking for the best biltong in Cape Town? Try Chops Biltong in Plumstead and Constantia

Posted on December 13th, 2010

If you’re looking for really good biltong and dried sausage (droe wors) in Cape Town, then try Chops Biltong in the southern suburbs. I usually buy at the Plumstead shop but there’s also a new smaller shop in Constantia Village. The prices are good and the quality is excellent. What’s great is that you can choose exactly what kind of biltong you like – no fat/with fat as well as dry/in between/wet – you get exactly what you’re looking for.

You can choose from a fresh selection of beef biltong, game biltong, ostrich biltong and dried sausage. They also stock other products such as olive oil, braai sauce, nuts and honey. Overall, Chops Biltong makes the best biltong and dried sausage I’ve found in Cape Town and I would definitely recommend them.

Here are the details of the two stores:

  • Chops Biltong – 122 Main Road, Plumstead
    Tel: 021 762 5211
  • Chops Biltong – Constantia Village (next to the Vodacom store)
    Tel: 021 794 8155

UPDATE: Following on the success of the original stores, three more Chops branches have opened:

  • Chops Biltong – Steenberg Village
    Tel: 021 762 5211
  • Chops Biltong – Belvedere Square, Keurboom Road, Claremont
  • Chops Biltong – 4 Checkers Centre, Caledon Street, Somerset West
    Tel: 021 851 0650
