The Cape Town Marathon is one of the Mother City’s most scenic races, with the route taking runners through Sea Point, Green Point, the V&A Waterfront and other well known suburbs. The race starts at 06h30 in Adderley Street and finishes at the Green Point Urban Park.

The 10km race is a great opportunity for anyone who’s looking to take part in the festivities, without taking on the full marathon. There are many useful 10km training programmes available on the net, such as this one from Runners World – http://www.runnersworld.co.za/training/training-programmes/10km/10km-running-6-weeks-to-your-best-10km/.

Registration and number collection takes place at the Sea Point Civic Centre on Friday 21 September 2012 from 10h00 to 19h00 and on Saturday 22 September 2012 from 10h00 to 17h00. Pre-entries close on 10 September 2012.

UPDATE: Western Province Athletics (WPA) has recently announced that a special MyCiti shuttle service will operate on Sunday 23 September to transport runners to the start of the 2012 Marathon and 10km races. There will be a shuttle service running between Stadium Station (in Green Point) and Thibault Square Station every 3 minutes between 05h15 and 06h15 on race day for runners in possession of a special IRT ticket.
