Attention all Parlotones fans out there: we have a concert to look forward to in Cape Town. It’s happening at Kirstenbosch on Monday 22 March 2010. Here’s the scoop:

Old Mutual has partnered with Kirstenbosch to organise a special fundraising concert on the public holiday, Monday March 22, to ensure that once again Kirstenbosch will send its 35th exhibit to the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show. Since the exhibit lost its sponsor two years ago, Kirstenbosch is in need of funds to continue the tradition of exhibiting at the prestigious London event.

The concert will feature one of South Africa’s most loved rock band, The Parlotones as the headline act, supported by South Africa’s newest Indie-rock band, The Black Hotels. Slightly longer than the normal Sunday Sunset concerts, the line up is bound to attract many to the Gardens and is the opportunity to support a very worthy cause and the perfect way to end a long weekend.

Supporting act, the Black Hotels, will open the event and since their formation in 2006 they have been critically acclaimed from their first release, ‘Beautiful Mornings’. Their album, ‘Films of the next Century’ was named Album of the Year 2009 by The Star Tonight.

The support of audience members will assist South Africa in one of its most successful initiatives. Over the past 34 years, the exhibit has won South Africa 30 gold medals and many additional awards and has become an ambassador for South Africa.
All money generated through ticket sales will go directly to the Chelsea Exhibit Fund.

Special picnic hampers at available through Silvertree Restaurant and will include a bottle of The Parlotones’ own signature wine range, named after their number one single ‘A Giant Mistake’.

The show starts at 5pm and runs until 7pm. Gates open at 3.30pm. Tickets cost R120 (no discount for children and Botanical Society members).
