More info from the website (www.sportrelief.co.za (http://www NULL.sportrelief NULL.co NULL.za)):
‘Sport Relief started in the UK eight years ago and more than 400,000 people took part in the last event in 2008. The Sport Relief Mile has now come to South Africa, which means you can join thousands of South Africans for a day of fun, competition and goodwill.
On Sunday 21st March 2010, hundreds of thousands of people will take to the streets all over the UK. Now you, your family and friends can unite with them in Cape Town to do something great.
It gets better – joining you will be South African sports heroes, personalities and celebrities doing their bit to help raise money for children in real need.
All of the sponsorship money your raise will go directly to support Child Welfare South Africa.
Child Welfare South Africa (CWSA), an umbrella body that represents more than 263 organisations, is collectively the largest NGO in the field of child protection and provides services to more than 2.5 million vulnerable children, their families or care-givers.
Children are our future and we owe them our commitment, love, care and support. Working in the spirit of Ubuntu, CWSA would like this to spread to all South Africans in order to work together in marking our country a safer place for children.’
