If you’re into high fashion and enjoy a day at the races, the good news is that South Africa’s most prestigious annual horse-racing event is taking place at Kenilworth Racecourse on Saturday 9 January 2010. It’s the 149th running of the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate and it promises to be a day packed with fashion, vintage cars, live music, fine wine and the country’s finest thoroughbreds.

The event kicks off at 11h00 and carries on until 23h00. The dress code is smart and this year’s theme is ‘Blue and White’. Prizes will be awarded to the ‘Best Dressed’ and ‘Best Hat’ on the day. The winners will be announced at 15h00. There are nine races on the day with the feature race taking place at 16h20. At 18h30 things move on to the ‘Style Lounge Village’, where the party begins. You can enjoy live performances from Goldfish, Just Jinjer and Gang of Instrumentals. DJ Shaun Duvet will keep the party going until 23h00.

Tickets cost R250 each and this includes access to the ‘Style Lounge Village’ but does not include food and beverages. Tickets are available from Computicket branches or you can buy them online at www.computicket.com (http://www NULL.computicket NULL.com/web/event/l_ormarins_queen_s_plate/43491839).
