Table Mountain Blues Summit at Bloemendal Wynhuis – 28 November 2009

Posted on | October 25, 2009 | 2 Comments

Being a keen guitarist and having played in a couple of Cape Town bands, I’ve always had a great appreciation for blues music and the way it showcases the guitar. It’s great to see that this form of music has a place in Cape Town and the highlight of the year for blues music lovers is undoubtedly the Table Mountain Blues Summit. It is the biggest annual blues festival in the country and is taking place at Bloemendal Wynhuis on Saturday 28 November 2009.

This year’s line-up features:

  • Dan Patlansky
  • Albert Frost Trio
  • Boulevard Blues
  • Rupert Mellor and The Thunderbirds
  • The Gerald Clark Band
  • The Dale Collins Band
  • Dave Ferguson and The Lonesharks
  • Los Desperados

My highlights would be Dan Patlansky and the Albert Frost Trio. It’s great to see Dan Patlansky playing in the Mother City. He’s an explosive blues guitarist who’s already had some success in the USA and has released three excellent albums to date. Dan will be returning to the USA soon, so take the opportunity to catch him live in Cape Town while you can. Albert Frost is well respected in the South African music industry. He’s an amazing guitarist and and has played with some of the biggest names in South African music. You may have seen him perform with Arno Carstens in recent times. They always put on a great show together. But it’s in Albert’s blues project where his true guitar style is showcased, so don’t miss out on the Albert Frost Trio’s performance.

Here are the details of the 2009 Table Mountain Blues Summit:

  • It all happens on the rolling lawns of Bloemendal Wynhuis in Durbanville, where there’ll be a huge marquee, food and refreshments and plenty of free secure parking.

    Good day,

Is there any way you can still squeeze in another Blues Artist?

I know I am pushing it – but she is really good – her name is Natasha Meister.

Please let me know – thank you.

    Hi Eleanor,

Thanks for your message. I’d suggest contacting the Boulevard Blues guys as they are involved in organising the concert.
