Jack Black Beer – Born and brewed in Cape Town
Posted on | August 6, 2009 | No Comments
After never really settling on a preferred brand of beer I think I may have found the brand that I can call my own and best of all it’s from Cape Town. Jack Black is a premium lager and is brewed right here at a microbrewery in Cape Town. The name has nothing to do with the American actor but rather an American maverick brewmaster from the 1920′s.

Jack Black Beer - Crisp, full-flavoured and refreshing.
In addition to being crisp, full flavoured and refreshing this premium lager is all natural and free from artificial additives and preservatives. By keeping it simple with natural ingredients (water, malted barley and hops) and by being brewed in small batches, the Jack Black brewing team has produced a fine tasting high quality beer with a moderate alcohol volume of 5%.
One should also commend Jack Black Brewers on keeping a green approach and making an effort to minimise their carbon footprint. Co-founder Meghan MacCallum explains: ‘In late 2007 we were brewing outside Hermanus but moved the operation to Cape Town in 2008. We look to minimize our carbon footprint at every opportunity, ie. less transport = less footprint. We are also striving to become a carbon neutral company. Cape Town based, we also attempt to use as many local ingredients as possible when it comes to our brewing.‘
I’ve been keeping an eye on the ever increasing list of restaurants and bars which have Jack Black on tap and the list of retailers stocking Jack Black beer is growing at a healthy pace.
